Art Party

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 3-6pm
at the TAU sculpture site in Meadowland Park

The world renowned sculptor and creator of TAU in Meadowland Park, Tony Smith, would have turned 100 on September 23, 2012. Join the Lennie Pierro Memorial Arts Foundation and the Village of South Orange in a celebration of Smith’s centennial with an all-out community art “happening” in Meadowland Park. In addition to work by local artists, the celebration will include the unveiling of a plaque highlighting Tony Smith, TAU and the contributions of those who made the installation in 2008 possible; the presentation of future plans for lighting the sculpture; and the launch of a new tonysmithsouthorange.org website. This is a free public event. Light refreshments will be served.

Participating artists and organizations include:

1978 Maplewood Arts Center, Pierro Gallery of South Orange,  GAS Gallery & Studio, Russell Christian, Kate Dodd, Mikel Frank, and many more! Calling all artists!

Artists from South Orange and beyond are invited to present works (perhaps inspired by TAU and the work of Tony Smith) in any medium — including performance, site-specific, and conceptual — in Meadowland park on the 23rd.

This is a non-juried event; interested participants should send images or descriptions to mail@pierrofoundation.org by Sept 14 to be included in the festivities.
